The Wise Fool

Sooner or later everyone plays the fool.

Meet Jan Henderson - director, educator, clown extraordinaire, saving the world one red nose at a time. For over 40 years Jan has lead countless students on a magical, inspirational journey to release their inner clowns waiting in the wings. Hear Jan’s story and why she believes clowns emerge when the oft-cruel world needs them most, to entertain and gift their audiences with hope, truth, love and compassion.

Maud Mary and the Titanic

A sweet, short film about a late, great lady who missed the boat and sailed into history!

This is the story of how Maud Mary of Liverpool missed the boat and lived to tell the tale. Not just any old boat — the Titanic! A widow with three young children, Maud purchased four tickets on the maiden voyage of the most unsinkable ship of all time! But circumstances prevailed and thankfully Maud and her children were made late for their seeming date with destiny on April 15, 1912. Now her tale of survival passed down by three generations of family is destined to be conveyed in this charming short film by filmmaker Geraldine Carr, Maud’s great-granddaughter.

Voila!

"Voila!" - a short film dramatizing the memory of an early – and life-altering – encounter of a young heroine Patricia, a.k.a. Patty as she is transported out of her natural milieu (late 60s, small prairie town) for one night into the exotic and overwhelming grandeur of a historic hotel, where she wants to experience the “glamour” she sees in her surroundings. Patty discovers the room service menu and “orders up” – in a style befitting her surroundings but reflective of the limits of her pocketbook. (12 min, 2014).

Dance of the Kaleidoscope

"Dance of the Kaleidoscope" was my first film out of film school. I wanted to create a short film involving contemporary dance, digital collage and a kaleidoscope. I was very influenced by the motion graphics and visual effects used in Julie Taymor's film "Frida" - especially how she so deftly used them in the transitions from one scene to the next.
